National Security shuts down hotel over unpaid water bills

National Security has shut down the Ultimate Hotel at Weija in Accra over unpaid water bills.

The hotel has been under lock and keys for days now over the staggering GHC25,000 debt owedthe Ghana water company.

The amount covers repair works on a damaged pipeline belonging to the water company by another company contracted by the hotel to drill a borehole.

Starr News understands a team of armed security personnel were deployed to lock down the facility last week.

But owner of the hotel Nana Obeng Akrofi told Starr News the bill for the damaged pipeline must be borne by the drilling company because they caused it.

Personnel of Ghana Water at Weija have confirmed the incident.

According to a bill sent to the hotel which has been intercepted by Starr News, the damage to the pipeline resulted in a two-day shutdown of the the Weija Water treatment plant in September.
