Accra, Dec.17, GNA - Mr Kwamena Bartels, Minister of Private Sector Development on Wednesday said operations of Ghanaian firms could be enhanced when the required mechanisms were put in place to promote Ghanaian entrepreneurs on the international market. He said this would depend on renewed commitment by the entrepreneurs in their operations.
Mr Bartels was speaking at the opening of a three-day exhibition of busts of 15 heroes and heroines in contemporary history worldwide in Accra.
The exhibition was organized by the Hall of Fame Foundation, an NGO established to mount exhibitions to educate the youth on achievements of heroes and heroines in their various careers worldwide. On display were the busts of President John Agyekum Kufuor, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene, Mrs Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, Immediate past President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Ghana's first President, the late Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth among others.
Mr Bartels said with renewed commitments by the entrepreneurs, the private sector would play a meaningful contribution to the country's socio-economic development.
"Recognizing the achievements of our past heroes and heroines is an important factor in building the country's future through opportunities offered to celebrate such achievements", he said. Mr Sammy Williams, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, said the exhibition was to inspire both the exhibitors and visitors to identify sculptor as an important tool of art, and an avenue to recognize the heroes and heroines.
He said the Foundation would establish a private museum to serve as tourist attraction, mount permanent exhibition of statues and busts of heroes and heroines. Mr Williams said the foundation would research and collate data about the historical values of African statesmen and heroes whose philosophy and fields of engagement contributed towards the historical renaissance of the African cultural heritage. He appealed to the government to support the development of the Foundation and the art industry.
