Netherlands investment group in Ghana

Accra. April 29, GNA - Global Country for World Peace, a Netherlands investment group, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minister of Trade and industry, in Accra.

The group was at the Ministry with officials of the Offinso North District Assembly and Offinso Traditional Council. The group that was introduced as the Assembly's investor friends, made its investment intention known to the Ministry. Mr. Raja Mariano, leader of the delegation, said the group had planned to undertake projects which would include the cultivation of 15,000 hectares of farmlands, in line with Ghana government's vision of modernizing agriculture through mechanized farming.

He said the group had also planned to establish an agricultural university in the country and provide health facilities, to improve the living standards of the people.

Mr. Mariano called on government to support the group to realize its investment goal that included harnessing the agricultural potentials of the district through investments to create employment for the youth and increase income levels of farmers.

Mr. Ayariga said Ghana would need to expand its oil palm plantations to meet the needs of both local and international markets. He said such projects could be located anywhere in the country so far as beneficiaries would be Ghanaians who would be expected to engage in the agro-business sector.

Mr. Ayariga appealed to the group to ensure that the beneficiary communities are provided with accessible road networks, water, electricity, schools and hospitals to enhance the livelihood of the people. He assured government was c0ommitted to bettering the lives of the people and said members of the group would be supported to make their stay in Ghana successful.
