Kumasi, April 15, GNA - The KAMA Group of Companies is collaborating with the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, to use some of its research finding in the production of drugs.
Professor Johnson Kwaku Kwakye, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy who announced this, said the Company has donated a computer, a Television and video deck to the faculty and presented 25 million cedis towards the faculty's activities.
He was speaking at the opening of a new retail pharmacy outlet of the Company on the KNUST campus in Kumasi on Wednesday. Professor Kwakye said at the moment there was only one pharmacy shop on the campus serving a community of over 30,000 people and hoped that the establishment of KAMA will help to address the inadequacy. He expressed optimisms that the company would bring its rich experiences and expertise to bear on the University and the neighbouring communities to ensure better services and competition in pharmacy practices.
Professor Kwesi Andam, Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST expressed joy about the efforts of Mr Mike Addo, Chief Executive Director of the Company and an alumnus of the University to open the pharmacy on the campus.
He said the University was making efforts to establish a School of Business to expand the programmes of the University. Mr Mike Addo said, the pharmacy division of the Company would offer effective pharmacare services.
He said: "Your diabetic, asthmatic, hypertensive and rheumatic medications can be guaranteed. Our products are going to be affordable".
