An architectural competition for the proposed revised master plan of the Ghana Trade Fair has been launched in Accra.
The new plan is expected to transform the trade fair to suit international standard with state-of-the art amenities. After completion it would have exhibition halls and facilities such as a three star hotel, cinema complex, an office complex, a shopping arcade, a convention centre, a warehouse, and children play ground among others.
The Ghana Institute of Architects has been authorized by the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited to handle the competition which began last Friday.
The winner would be announced on 26th April 2004.
The Ghana Trade Fair was constructed in 1962. The original plan was to build a first -class multi- purpose trade complex capable of hosting local, regional and international fairs while offering amusement and hotel facilities to exhibitors and visitors.
The facilities have not seen any major rehabilitation.
