New Tigo office inaugurated at Koforidua

Koforidua, Sept. 22, GNA - Millicom Ghana Limited (MGL), operators of Tigo cellular network, says the company is investing 40 million dollars into the expansion and improvement of its services to ensure that by 2007, about 90 per cent of Ghanaians will have access to its network.

MGL's Chief Operational Officer, Mr Mark Procter, said this at the inauguration of a new Tigo office at Koforidua on Thursday. He said this year, the company invested 60 million dollars into its operations to improve and expand services to cover entire Ghana and also to create more jobs.

In his remarks at the inauguration, the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Kwesi Adjei-Boateng, called on landlords whose houses were situated in the central business area of the municipality, to trade them off to investors to help create jobs.

He expressed his appreciation to MGL for opening its office in New Juaben and assured it of support from the Municipal Assembly. Nana Adjei-Boateng urged the people of New Juaben Municipality to patronize the Tigo cellular network to enable the company to grow. He also urged management of Tigo to fulfil their social obligation to the people when their businesses grow.

He said mentioned waste management as a major problem the municipality had been grappling with over the years and called for support to help solve it.

The Eastern Regional Manager of Tigo, Ms Faustina Ntiamoah, explained that the company decided to open a new office in Koforidua as part of its expansion programme to extent service to all regions. He thanked all those who had contributed to the development of the company which started as Mobitel and has developed to become Tigo. 22 Sept. 06
