Newmont Ghana joins African Partner Pool

Invest in Africa has announced that leading Ghanaian mining firm Newmont Ghana, is the latest company to join the African Partner Pool (APP).

A statement issued by John Appiah, the Account Manager of Invest In Africa and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Friday said APP is Ghana’s first online cross sector business directory, connecting local and international companies.

Newmont Ghana is a subsidiary of the leading global mining company, Newmont Mining Corporation.

“Newmont is very excited to be part of the African Partner Pool. Our decision to join the African Partner Pool forms part of Newmont’s long term local content strategy in demonstrating commitment to the local Ghanaian economy,” said Simon Blamires, Newmont’s Africa Director in charge of Procurement.

Sam Brandful, Invest in Africa Ghana Manager, added: “The purpose of the APP is to help companies to source more locally and more efficiently by connecting companies to quality local suppliers here in Ghana, so we are delighted to be joined by a company with the scale of Newmont Mining.”

The APP is the flagship initiative of Invest in Africa; which a growing group is companies working together to address the cross-sector challenges of doing business in Ghana.

Invest in Africa is focused on supporting local Ghanaian businesses by providing greater access to markets and skills, making it easier for international companies working in Ghana to source locally and at scale.

The statement said later this year Invest in Africa would launch a business skills excellence programme in Partnership with the African Development Bank, exclusively for Ghanaian business registered on the APP.
