Nominations for the ‘Made in Ghana Awards’ which aim at inducting the most outstanding products and services in Ghana into a hall of fame, have opened in Accra.
The event which commemorates the fifth anniversary celebration of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), organizers of the programme, is scheduled for October this year on the theme “Nationalism, The key to Social and Economic Development”.
It is supported by the Ghana Standards Authority, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Finance.
Speaking at the formal launch of the awards scheme, the President of the EFG, Mr Sam Ato Gaisie said the purpose of the scheme was to expose indigenous Ghanaian products and services to the larger market, as well as promote made in Ghana products and services.
He explained that the ‘Made in Ghana Awards’ process would basically shortlist the best celebrated products and services which have exhibited excellence in quality, manufacturing practices and standards over the years.
Ten of the outstanding products and services would be inducted into the prestigious ‘Made in Ghana Hall of Fame’, whiles another ten would be selected for award as ‘Made in Ghana Products and Services of the Year’ for their exceptional contribution to the development of the private sector in creating economic and social values.
“It is about seeking the pride of Ghanaian indigenous twenty (20) most celebrated high quality and competitive products and services to create awareness, provide a boost to the business profile and reputation, increase the products’ credibility in international markets and build product loyalty to save the local manufacturing industries from collapse”, Mr Gaisie stated.
