Okwahuman Manufacturing Company submits proposals to establish factory

The Okwahuman Manufacturing Company, established by natives of Kwahu Asakraka abroad, have submitted a proposal to establish a factory under the One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy of the government at Kwahu South District in the Eastern Region.

The factory to be established would produce latex products such as disposal gloves and aprons in the district.

The initiative formed part of the company's social responsibility programme in ensuring development in the Kwahu area so as to create job opportunities for the youth in the area.

This was announced by Mr Emmanuel Atta-Ofori, the Kwahu South District Chief Executive (DCE) at the first ordinary meeting of the assembly held at Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.

He said, the factory after completion would engage over 500 youths in the area and assured that work would soon begin.

He explained that the joint venture was aimed at helping to reduce unemployment and to improve upon the living standards of the people and reduce poverty in the district.

Mr Atta-Ofori said government had an agricultural base policy that aimed at ensuring the production of necessary raw materials to feed the nation's industries.

He said the District had plans of producing 500,000 coffee seedlings at Bepong and Ntomem that would be supplied to farmers for free as part of the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) programme of the government.

Mr Atta-Ofori entreated assembly members to create awareness of the government's flagship programmes in their respective electoral areas for the people to take advantage of the programmes to better their living standards.
