Otumfuo Receives Head Of Beverage Company

Kumasi, Sept 4, Mr Anthony Whitehead, Managing Director of Nestle Ghana Limited said today that the company's investment in plant, technology and personnel is a reflection of its confidence in the Ghanaian market. He said the company intends to make Kumasi the base from which it will reach the hinterland and is therefore considering re-opening its depot, which it closed down some time ago due to the then adverse market situation. This was when he led some board members and management of the company to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware the second at Manhyia today. Mr Whitehead said Nestle, the biggest food company in the world, employs over 210,000 people and operates over 489 factories in some 70 countries in all the five continents. He said the company sponsors sporting activities like the Accra Marathon, the colts, soccer championships, the inter schools and colleges soccer games, the Nescafe Golf tournament and the Nido junior marathon, which will be run in Kumasi on Saturday, September 6, 1997. Mr Whitehead said, all these demonstrate the company's desire to do business in the country and involve the people as their partners in development. The Asantehene said he is very much aware of the good work the company is doing in Ghana and expressed the hope that it will continue with its excellent performance.
