PUWU commends the Govt for rejuvenating the SHC

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA- The Public Utility Workers Union (PUWU), of the Trades Union Congress, has commended the Government for awarding the contract of renovating some Police housing units to the State Housing Company (SHC).

Alhaji Bawah Salifu, Deputy General Secretary of the PUWU, who was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, in Accra on Monday, referred to the announcement by President John Agyekum Kufuor, at the 37th graduation Ceremony of the Ghana Police College, that government had contracted the SHC, to improve police housing units in Koforidua, Ho, Kumasi and Tamale.

Alhaji Bawah said the SHC acquired large tracts of land throughout the country to fulfill its mandate of providing affordable houses to the People.

He said due to lack of contracts the Company had lost some of the lands through encroachment and other factors.

Alhaji Bawah therefore appealed to the Government to consider giving the SHC more contracts in future.

He charged the workers of the Company to work hard to be able to attract the contracts.
