Papaye awards 400 pupils with certificates and books

Accra, Oct. 28, GNA - Papaye Fast Food Limited, a fast foods company in Accra on Thursday awarded about 400 pupils with certificates, books and other educational materials for their exceptional performance in their academic work.

The awards ceremony dubbed: "Our Day Special" organized every year for selected first cycle institutions in the Accra Metropolis and Tema Municipality is meant to honour and motivate best pupils in first cycle institutions.

Mr Kal Kalmoni, Executive Chairman of the Company, said Papaye Fast Food as part of its social responsibilities and heeding to Government's call for quality education had been promoting education by sponsoring specific programmes and offering scholarship to a number of school children up to the university level.

He said: "Unless these young ones are properly educated and trained professionally and academically, no nation can develop and move forward."

Mr Kalmoni urged parents to take the education of their children serious and advised the children to work hard.

He said the programme was aimed at promoting a healthy competition among the youth. "It is indeed our commitment that through this programme, a healthy competitive spirit among the youth would be promoted."

Mrs Vida Drapson, Regional Director of Education, commended the Company for their efforts in helping to reduce the financial burden of parents.

She said parents should always sacrifice for the well-being of their children by setting their priorities right and appealed to other organizations to also go to the aid of the needy in society.
