Parliament approves budget estimates for MDAs

Accra, March 15, GNA - Parliament on Tuesday approved the budget estimates for nine Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for the fiscal year 2005.

They are the Ministry of Education and Sports, which had six trillion, one hundred and one billion, nine hundred and twenty-seven million cedis (6,101,927,000,000.00), National Development Planning Commission, sixty-one billion, eight hundred and twenty-six million cedis (61,826,000,000.00), Ministry of Energy, four hundred and eleven billion, seven hundred and twenty million cedis (411,720,000,000.00), and the Ministry of Defence, four hundred and eight billion, one hundred and eleven million cedis (408,111,000,000.00).

The others are the Ministry of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, nine billion, and twenty-eight million cedis (9,028,000,000.00), Ministry of Harbours and Railways, thirty-two billion, seven hundred and seventeen million cedis (32,717,000.000.00), Ministry of Fisheries, eighty-five billion, one hundred and twenty-three million cedis (85,123,000,000.00), Ministry of Justice, eighty-five billion, five hundred and ninety-four million cedis (85,594,000,000.00), and Ministry of Environment and Science, one hundred fifty-seven billion, seven hundred and forty-two million cedis (157,742,000,000.00).

Most of the MPs were of the view that the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to disburse the budgetary allocations of the MDAs in time to enable them to have uninterrupted operations.
