Phone Monitor software for companies launched

Accra, June 30, GNA - A new software programme dubbed "Phone Monitor" that monitors and records details of telephone calls for companies and organizations to reduce business cost was on Wednesday launched in Accra.

The product manufactured by the Delta Information Systems, a local company, records details of call duration, callers' identification numbers, calls estimated charges and provide periodic usage reports. Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah, Communications Minister who launched the product in a speech read for him said, the trend now was towards innovativeness to promote the value of IT solutions rather than just mere promotion of Information Communication Technology (ICT).

He said the product would promote the business of organizations because it had the capabilities to register all calls in an organization on individual basis adding that company staffs would not be tempted to make calls, which would not be of benefit to their assigned outputs and the outcome expected from their organizations.

Mr. Dapaah stressed government's commitment to continue to create and promote the environment for the private sector to take advantages to make that dream of transforming Ghana into an economy that would be driven by ICT development.

Mr. Cecil Garbrah, Chief Executive of the Delta Company said the idea was to develop the software was born two years ago following a survey, which revealed that increasing telephone bills was killing businesses than expected.

The installation of the product would be at a cost of 7.5 million cedis.
