Accra, Oct. 13,GNA - The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has set up a unit to assist investors and businessmen conduct background checks on corporate institutions and individuals they intend to transact business with.
In a statement signed by DSP David Eklu, Director of Public Affairs Directorate of the Police Service, said the Vetting and Criminal Intelligence Unit (VCIU) which would be located at the CID Headquarters in Accra, would receive applications, process them and conduct the necessary background checks to ascertain whether the business entities in Ghana were genuine.
The unit is to assist foreigners in conducting checks on individuals in Ghana who make various business proposals to them. "Any group or individuals who are dealing with other agencies or individuals to assist them travel outside the country can also contact the CID Headquarters."
It further appealed to members of the public engaged in other business transactions to contact the CID Headquarters in Accra for assistance.
