President Mahama commended for establishing Ministry of Energy and Green Transition

The Association of African Sustainability Practitioners (AASuP) has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama, on his recent inauguration as the President of the Republic of Ghana.

The Association also extended its congratulations to Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, for making history as the first female Vice President of Ghana.

In a statement dated January 16, 2025 and signed by Humphrey K. Tetteh,
Director of AASuP, it highlighted its enthusiasm for collaborating with the President’s administration to promote sustainable development and climate action.

AASuP specifically commended the establishment of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, emphasising it as a significant step toward addressing the country’s energy and environmental challenges.

The move, according to the association, reflects "President Mahama’s visionary leadership in steering Ghana toward a green and low-carbon economy."

As a key stakeholder in the sustainability sector, AASuP pledged its full support to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.

Meanwhile, the association intends to provide strategic expertise and capacity building to amplify the ministry's efforts, ensuring successful implementation of its initiatives.

"AASuP’s newly constituted National Executive Council, which includes professionals from sectors such as renewable energy, construction, banking, and academia, is prepared to engage in collaborative efforts with the government," it added.

The council’s diverse expertise is positioned to make valuable contributions to the green transition, helping to achieve Ghana's sustainability goals.

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of AASuP’s commitment to working closely with President Mahama’s administration to drive policies and programs that promote climate change mitigation, environmental conservation, and sustainable development in Ghana.
