Prices of GTP still stable at Makola

The prices of most locally manufactured wax prints continue to be stable as there has not been any increment since April 2012, Ghana News Agency market survey on Friday revealed.

GNA observed during a visit to some markets in the Accra Metropolis that the price of GTP is still GH¢45.00 for a half piece of "Nustyle" whilst "Super Print" was selling at GH¢65.00 for half piece. "Vlisco" cloth, which is Hollandaise, is selling at GH¢150.00 for half piece while "High Target," sells at GH¢24.00 for half piece.

Ms Margret Dadzie, a shop owner at Rawlings Park, told the GNA that prices of the prints had remained stable even during the Easter festivities which normally create condition for price hikes.

“There have been speculations about possible increment in the prices of GTP since March…but looking at the economic condition now any increment will affect our sells,” Ms Dadzie said. Ms Forzia Helwani, a shop attendant at Makola, said sales had been good as the price stability has injected confidence in trading.

At dressing accessories shop at Rawlings Park/Makola, GNA observed that one could get ear rings, beads, bangles, wrist watches, chains and others for as low as GH¢5.00 to as high as GH¢300.00 depending on the brand or the quality.
