The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana has appealed to Ghanaians to bear with importers as prices of imported goods would naturally fall as government put in the much anticipated measures to strengthen the cedi.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema, Mr Samsom Asaki, Executive Secretary, Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, said all imported goods on the market were procured at the old dollar rate hence the difficulty of importers to reduce prices to reflect the cedi’s strength.

“Most goods being cleared at the various ports were bought at the old dollar rate just as the orders made some few days ago, so if prices are artificially reduced, most import based businesses would collapse.”

He lauded government for the bold initiatives and efforts to rescue the cedi from further plunge.
