Business activities are likely to grind to a halt in the Accra as members of the Joint Private Sector Business Consultative Forum begin a strike today.
The group is taking action over tariff hikes and new taxes introduced by the government.
Leaders of the various unions that form the forum say the decision is to protect their businesses from collapse.
George Ofori, President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) said the three-day strike is limited to the capital but would be carried out in other regional capitals after Thursday.
“All shops within the Accra metropolis should be closed down till Wednesday March 2. Meanwhile, notices must be communicated to our regional capitals to also be on the alert so that by Thursday, we will meet and assess the situation”.
