The management of ProCredit Savings and Loan Company has launched a ProKid Corner to provide parents with child-friendly environment within the banking hall.
The initiative would engage children who accompany their parents to the banking hall during financial transactions. The Prokid Corner, which is a dedicated area in the banking hall stocked with educational toys to entertain children, has been established in banking halls at Suame, Takoradi, Abeka Lapez, Tema and Dansoman.
As part of the launching management organised Youth Financial Education Programme to help the youth understand basics of money management and develop the saving culture to expand their opportunities for the future.
Mr Raymond Bismarck, Deputy General Manager launching the initiative said it was evidence of management’s commitment to inculcate the culture of financial literacy among the community within where they operate.
He said the facility would be extended to all branches to create access for more kids. Mr Bismarck said over the years, the bank had shown good leadership in financial literacy by providing regular financial education to diverse business groups under its neighbourhood banking project.
“These financial education programmes have dealt with topics such as book keeping, business planning, cost of borrowing, risk management and importance of savings,” he said.
Mr Bismarck said the youth had always been part of the exercise adding that some youth groups had benefited from the exercise focusing on explaining in totality the concept of banking using varied educational tools. He pledged the bank’s support to provide best financial solutions to its customers.
ProCredit is a financial institution established in 2002 to provide responsible and transparent financial solutions to varied target groups including children. It has 26 networked ranches spread across Greater Accra, Central, Western, Eastern, Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo Regions.
