Rejoinder: OmniBank acquires GHiPSS?

OmniBank neither has interest nor intentions of acquiring GhiPSS or any shares therein OmniBank neither has interest nor intentions of acquiring GhiPSS or any shares therein

We refer to the article published in the Daily Searchlight Newspaper on Friday 3rd March 2017 and subsequently on GhanaWeb on Sunday 5th March 2017 by Columnist Kwame Asare Nyinpong alleging that OmniBank has almost sealed a deal with the Bank of Ghana for the sale of its shares in Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhiPSS).

We wish to state that the said publication is false and malicious.

OmniBank neither has interest nor intentions of acquiring GhiPSS or any shares therein. Moreover, the Bank has not and does not intend to enter into an agreement with any entity including the Bank of Ghana to acquire GHiPPs. It is worthy to note that all Banks in Ghana including OmniBank use the GHiPPS platform for their payment services and will continue to use that platform for its payment services for as long as it remains relevant to its business.

We as a bank will continue to strengthen our enviable brand by offering bespoke products to our customers especially SMEs. The journey to our tremendous growth and current status which has resulted in winning many awards including eight (8) awards both locally and internationally in the year 2014 alone is public knowledge.

With our vision of becoming a bank, we were issued a Universal Banking license in July 2016 after complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.

The above referenced publication is baseless and therefore urge all our cherished customers and the general public to disregard the said publication.

We assure our customers of our continuous support to the development of their businesses and the provision of rapid and exceptional banking services to them.
