The Volta River Authority has commended the Port Authority for its continuous support in discharging its equipment.
This follows the receipt of rotor equipment for the VRA from the Tema Port. About five months ago, the rotor, from the Aboadze thermal plant was transported to General Electricals workshop; UAE for repair works after a malfunction was detected, according to the Community Relations Officer of VRA, William Apau.
This rotor equipment is a component of a generator that enables the distribution of electrical energy.
William Apau of the VRA informed that, in the absence of this equipment, the VRA were unable to generate 110 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.
''We are going to transport this rotor to Aboadze. Then in few weeks, we are sure the rotor will be online then we will just program it into the national grid,” he updated.
He however expressed satisfaction that within a few weeks, the equipment will be fully operational and the 110 megawatts lost would be restored to the national grid.
He, expressed gratitude to the Port Authority on behalf of the Volta River Authority, for assisting in the care, and transport of the rotor, which he described as very crucial equipment.
''I think I need to commend the Port, Security and Administrators as well. They have been very supportive,” he expressed.
