The maiden edition of Royal Banking and Finance Challenge has taken full flight with 16 tertiary institutions battling it out in a stiff competition at the chartered Institute of Bankers auditorium, Okponglo

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Zenith College and Regent University yesterday gave the maiden edition of the challenge a grand opening with a keen competition in a quiz on real industry questions and problems.

The Royal Banking and Finance Challenge saw the three schools display high level of financial intelligence, at the end of the 4th round KNUST was in a comfortable lead with 117 points, followed by Zenith College with 71 points and Regent University with 41 points. Therefore KNUST and Zenith College have secured a place in the semi finals

Schools which competed in the opening day include UCC, Lancaster University, University of Ghana and Valley View University. Methodist University, GIMPA, Central University and Islamic University also had their turn.

Executive Director, Edufair Ghana Foundation, Ms Ewura Esi Enyimayew stated the purpose of the competition is to know the financial illiteracy of the students in order to adopt the right measures to help them. She mention that the competition promises to be tough and exciting in the coming days.

The Royal Banking Finance Challenge continues today at the same venue and climaxes on Friday 31st March with four universities competing in the final stage.

The challenge is to provide undergraduate students from universities all across the country a common platform where they can marry theory with field work.
