The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) says it would consider any request for the establishment of an Islamic investment scheme in the country.
This follows proposals from some Islamic institutions for laws to be instituted to encourage businesses of their faith, to actively participate in the capital markets.
Speaking to Joy Business after a forum to educate the public on investments, Director General of SEC, Adu Anane Antwi said it is considering this because it has the potential to deepen interest on the capital market.
The public forum which was put together by the Securities and Exchange Commission is part of its capital market week aimed at improving the public’s knowledge about investments, bonds and stock market in the country.
