SMEs upgrade competence in contract management

Kumasi, April 5, GNA - Workers of about 100 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have attended a capacity building workshop in Kumasi to upgrade their competence in contract management as part of stepped-up efforts to assist them to achieve optimal performance. They were drawn from all the five regions in the Northern sector of the country; Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and West. It was held under the auspices of Eximguaranty Company Ghana Limited, a key player in the financial services market. "Improving the business of SMEs through credit guarantees: The role of Eximguaranty Company (GH) Limited" was the theme. Mrs Felicity Acquah, the Managing Director, said the goal was to expose them to best practices in contract administration, project management and corporate governance to boost growth and anchor the development of the economy.

They were also introduced to the management of information systems. The MD said the company has as one of its products, the provision of advisory support services and training for SMEs and other clients. The idea was to help enhance their technical and managerial competencies to expand their production capacities and become more competitive.

The participants were from various contractor associations and those working with the Ghana Highways Authority, Department of Feeder Roads, Department of Urban Roads and other contract awarding institutions.
