STCCI Chairman calls for unity in business community

Mr. Issah Ouedraogo, the Chairman of the Sekondi/Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to members to work in unionism in order to take advantage of the numerous business opportunities in the Region.

“Let us not see the Chamber as a conduit for ‘chop chop’ or for selfish gains,” he said.

Mr Ouedraogo was speaking at a business meeting organized by the Chamber to discuss business opportunities both in the Region and outside the Region.

He said "We are only important when we are united” adding that businesses were the drivers of the national economy.

Mr. Ouedraogo said STCCI members were seen as stakeholders in contributing to the development of the private sector and that required interconnection among businesses and internal peace.

"When the private sector thrives, many more businesses are created and jobs are made available for the jobless in the country," he said.

Mr. Ajaneesh Kumar, deputy High Commissioner of India who was the special guest of honour, called on businesses in the Region to take advantage of export promotions to grow their businesses.

He said the Region had enormous resources that businesses could take advantage off and develop.
