General Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, is advocating a total shutdown of the labour force to express dissatisfaction with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority’s (NPRA) approval of the sale of 60 percent shares in six hotels belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Rock City.
Mr. Koomson emphasised that the Federation fully supports the shutdown to pressure SSNIT into halting the sale.
He argued that if the hotel's management is incompetent, they should be replaced to ensure better management of the hospitality facilities.
His comments were made in light of an emergency meeting scheduled for today, Friday, July 12, 2024, by organised labour to discuss NPRA’s approval of the sale of 60 percent of SSNIT’s hotel portfolio shares.
He spoke on Accra-based Joy FM.
