Sandpark Properties inaugurates Power Transformers

Accra, March 27, GNA - Management of Sandpark Properties, a real estate company, has inaugurated its electrification project for the first gated residential estate at Dunkonah, New Bortianor near Accra. Management of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Friday installed and powered two new transformer units and distributor panels each with a capacity rating of 200 KVA (Kilovolt Ampere) at Sandpark Estates, an eleven-acre gated residential facility just off the Accra-Takoradi Highway, which when completed, would be home to about 60 middle-income families.

"One transformer is normally good enough for a community of this size, but with two high performance transformers carrying a combined rating of 400 KVA, this estate would hardly ever have any problems with power flow," Mr Carl Ankrah, Acting Project Engineer at ECG said after turning on the switches to connect the estate to the national grid. Mr Isaac Kyei-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of Sandpark Properties told reporters that with the installation of the transformers, the company's vision of introducing secured and modern community living, particularly in the 'wrongfully underrated' and yet highly endowed western part of the capital city, was unfolding. "We consider the installation of our transformers as a landmark development because we at Sandpark are very passionate about the efficacy of residential utilities; security, privacy and personal comfort happen to be vital ingredients of our entire concept of modern community living," Mr Kyei-Mensah stressed.

"With our connection to the national grid and with water already flowing here, all our basic utilities are now in place and Sandpark Estates is now ready for habitation; as a matter fact, 10 homes are almost ready and we expect to hand over the first Sandpark Estate home to its owner within the first week of April, "he said.

Management of Sandpark seeks to use its first project at Dunkonah to prove that it is more rewarding to live in the west side of Accra - with all its natural landscape and scenery, fresh and healthier air and its exciting beaches and water bodies. Sandpark Estate's 60-home gated community would have its own convenience store, a social club house, a sports court, an administrative office and a 24 hour security regime. 27 March 09
