Mampong (Ash), June 24, - The Sekyere West District Assembly is spending more than 200 million cedis to improve health facilities in the district. Mr Ebenezer Akuoko-Frimpong, the District Chief Executive, made this known to newsmen during an inspection tour of work on the renovation and expansion of Asante-Mampong Government Hospital financed by the assembly. The works involve the replacement of broken louvres, painting and repairing of the floors and the construction of additional consulting rooms for the Maternity Unit at a cost of 50 million cedis. The Assembly will spend 20 million cedis to rehabilitate a generator for the hospital which broke down 10 years ago, to provide power for the hospital and the headworks of the Ghana Water and Sewerage Corporation. Other projects in the health sector include the construction of a 140 million cedi office for the District Health Management Team (DHMT) and clinics at Birem and Issaka, in the Afram Plains portion of the district. Mr Akuoko-Frimpong said the assembly has provided 50 bags of cement and paint valued at two million cedis to support the construction of a bungalow for the Nsuta Polyclinic's medical officer.
