The Sissala West District Assembly has collected GH? 171,938.54 as Internally Generated Funds (IGF) representing 85.5 percent of the second quarter estimate of GH? 18,750.00.
Mr. Moses Dramani Luri, Sissala West District Chief Executive, announced this during the general meeting of the Assembly in Gwollu in the Sissala West District.
He said as part of efforts to double the revenue target, a double carbine pick-up had been procured from the same IGF to aid the work of the revenue taskforce.
The DCE said the Assembly as part of its mandate was expected to collect revenue to meet the growing demands of its people and in that respect, the Assembly had planned to collect rates on all properties in the district.
Mr. Luri commended those who had contributed in the revenue mobilization and appealed to them to work harder for the Assembly to exceed its revenue targets for the remaining quarters.
He said the Assembly had received GH? 174,245.95 as its fourth quarter share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and GH? 199,972.92 under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
Mr. Luri said the District Agricultural Development Unit (DADU) had supported 86 males and four females who were members of Farmer Based Organisations (FBOs) in Jitong, Jawia and Gbarima communities with GH? 98,690.00 from the Northern Rural Growth Programme (NRGP) to cultivate 361 acres of maize.
