Six to vie for a complete kitchen makeover in Frytol Star Challenge

28-year-old Emmanuel Boakye Mensah from Kumasi is one of six finalists who has qualified to compete in the upcoming finals of the Frytol Star Challenge final cook-off scheduled for October 31st, 2013. The eventual winner of the two-month campaign which has run from July wins a complete makeover of his/her kitchen.

The finalists are Gladys Ankomah and Comfort Ocran from Accra, with Anthonette Antwi and Betty Annan representing the Western region winners from the Takoradi event. The Ashanti Region winners are Mary Theodora Arthur as well as Emmanuel Boakye Mensah.

Emmanuel Boakye Mensah stands out from the crowd as the only male in the list of four qualified finalists and says he is determined to win the contest at the expense of the women.

‘I want to show the whole country that women aren’t the only masters in the kitchen. My campaign is to show that I’m the best cook in the country’. The Frytol Star Challenge has been going on for the last two months, with regionals draws and cook-offs in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi.

The General Manager Commercial at Wilmar International (Wilmar Africa) Fatima Alimohamed expressed Frytol’s satisfaction with the turn of events so far.

‘We have been very excited by the enthusiastic response of our consumers to this promotion. The numbers that have taken part in our regional competitions have been very good and this goes to confirm the special place that the brand Frytol holds in the heart of many Ghanaians,’ she said.

‘One of the objectives of this campaign is to promote Ghanaian dishes and highlight the role our special cooking oil, Frytol plays in the preparation. We believe we have been able to achieve this. We wish the finalists the best of luck.’ she concluded.

To qualify to take part in the promotion, shoppers within Takoradi, Accra and Kumasi had to purchase up to 2 litres of Frytol in a selected retail outlet and immediately be handed a recipe booklet. The last page of this booklet is a Frytol branded card which is torn off and submitted together with a summary of your favorite recipe.

Consumers were then required to submit the raffle entry bids into a drop box in any selected outlet near them. The first five names from each of the draws were given an opportunity to show off their cooking skills with the best cooks, booking their place in the finals in Accra.

As part of the Grand finale, winners will be treated to dinner with management of Wilmar as well as taken on a factory tour days before the actual final cook-off.

The chef with the most flawless meal will seal his/her win with a complete kitchen makeover. Other consumers who participate in the promotion could win several prizes including dinning sets, cookers, microwaves, frying sets etc.
