Skills training drives economic development - Prince Obeng

The Greater Accra Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Prince Obeng, has emphasized the importance of skills training for the youth.

He noted that global development is increasingly driven by digitalization, education, industrialization, and particularly, skills training, which are essential for economic progress worldwide.

Speaking at the closing ceremony for a training programme that benefited 13,000 unemployed youth in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Obeng expressed his enthusiasm for participating in such initiatives.

He highlighted that skills training is a key component of economic development and prosperity in every nation.

He commended the Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia-led government for implementing these crucial development strategies, especially through the YEA.

Mr. Obeng pointed out that the government’s initiatives, including the Free Senior High School Programme, skills training by the YEA, and the One-District-One-Factory initiative, are vital for the youth of Ghana.

He explained these fall within the templates being implemented across the world for human development.

He praised the leadership of the YEA’s Chief Executive Officer, Kofi Agyepong, for overseeing the successful implementation of the training programme.
