Standard Chartered gain pushes index up

Accra, Nov. 17, GNA - The Accra bourse index raced to an all time high on Monday as heavyweight banking stock, Standard Chartered Bank, made huge gains to lift it up.

The GSE-All Share index, the key stock measure, rallied 11.38 points during Monday's trading session, to close a record high of 3,006.92 points, the highest in recent years.

The Change for the Year to Date now stands at 115.50 per cent. Traded share volumes were, however, down with 54,700 shares changing hands compared to 225,300 shares on Friday.

On the broader market, there were seven price changes - all positive. Standard Chartered Bank gained 1,493 cedis to close at 60,500 cedis, Fan Milk was up 10 cedis at 3,160 cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank gained 10 cedis at 6,261 cedis and Guinness Ghana Limited had two cedis at 4,822 cedis. Other gainers were Mobil Oil Ghana Limited got two cedis at 24,502, GBL one cedi at 1,001 and Unilever one cedi at 10,701 cedis.

Market capitalisation now stands at 11,236.53 billion cedis up from 11,204.86 billion cedis.
