Stock Exchange Index makes moderate gain

Accra, Jan. 7, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) inched up in moderate trading on Friday as the bourse began to warm up. The GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, recorded a 4.23-point gain to end the day at 6,808.65 points.

Change for the year ended at 0.15 per cent while market capitalisation also closed at 97,642.26 billion cedis from 3,663.42 million shares.

There were three price changes, all positive. Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) led the way with a 50-cedi gain at 10,252 cedis, Starwin Products Limited (SPL) was 41 cedis better at 651 while Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) was seven cedis up at 6,560 cedis.

Total shares that changed hands were 1,260,400 with GCB selling 946,400.
