Stock Exchange ends pre-Christmas trading on moderate note

Accra, Dec. 22, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) ended pre-Christmas trading on a moderate note with the main stock index climbing by 12.42 points.

Three equities made gains after a series of weak trading sessions, propelled by solitary Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB).

The GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, ended trading at 6,793.70 points from Wednesday's 6,781.28 points.

Change for the year was 91.19 per cent while total number of shares traded was up at 734,200, up from Wednesday's 348,100 shares. Market capitalisation also ended higher at 97,583.70 billion cedis from 96,951.71 billion cedis.

On the broader market, Ghana Breweries Limited gained 100 cedis at 1,600 cedis, while Ghana Commercial Bank and Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) were up by two cedis each at 10,112 cedis and 6,502 cedis, respectively.
