Accra, Oct. 20, GNA - The main stock index ended the week on a healthy note, closing at 5,814.36 points compared with 5,745.45 points at the beginning of the trading week.
The GSE All-Share Index, the main index, gained 28.54 points on Friday over Thursday's figure of 5,785.82 points.
The number of shares that changed hands on Friday came to 2.944 million with Ghana Commercial Bank alone selling more than 2.61 million. That brought the total number of shares traded during the week to 3.51 million.
On the broader market, there were four price changes on Friday, all positive and all of them being banking stocks. CAL Bank gained 0.0034 GH cedis at 0.3500 GH cedis, Ecobank Ghana Limited inched up by 0.0001 GH cedis at 1.6501 GH cedis, Standard Chartered Bank was up by 0.5000 GH cedis at 23.5000 cedis and Ghana Commercial Bank was better by 0.0300 GH cedis at 0.9600 GH cedis. Market capitalisation ended better at 11,834.07 million GH cedis from the week's opening figure of 11,792.29 million GH cedis.
