Stock index edges up in mixed trading

Accra, April 5, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) edged up slightly in mixed trading on Wednesday that saw an appreciable number of shares changing hands.

GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, gained 0.14 points at 4,767.48 points from 4,767.34 points. Change for the year to date also improved to -0.03 per cent.

Volume of shares traded jumped to 641,800 from 155,300 on Tuesday with Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) selling 600,500 shares. On the broader market there were three gainers, all positive. CAL Bank (CAL) gained two cedis at 1,935 cedis, Enterprise Insurance Company also made two cedis at 6,875 while Aluworks was one cedi better at 6,121 cedis.

Market capitalisation moved up to 91,944.48 billion cedis from 91,944.07 billion cedis on Tuesday.
