Stock index inches up in mixed trading

Accra, April 6, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) went up slightly in mixed trading on Wednesday that saw an appreciable number of shares changing hands. GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, gained 0.13 points at 4,767.61 points from 4,767.48 points. Change for the year to date remained at -0.03 per cent.

Volume of shares traded came down to 243,000 from 641,800 on Wednesday with CAL Bank selling 210,400 shares.

On the broader market there were three gainers, all positive. Enterprise Insurance Company gained six cedis to close trading at 6,881 cedis while CAL Bank (CAL) gained one cedi at 1,936 cedis and Ghana Commercial bank (GCB) also made one cedi at 6,201 cedis. Market capitalisation moved up to 91,944.95 billion cedis from 91,944.48 billion cedis on Wednesday.
