Stock index jumps up on SG-SSB gain

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange jumped up in trading on Thursday on a good performance by SG-SSB Limited although volumes plunged to a new low after impressive performances last week when shares that changed hands were in the millions virtually everyday.

The GSE All Share Index went up by 14.13 points at 5,584.13 points from 5,570.00 points on Wednesday.

Change for the year ended up at 11.55 from 11.27 per cent. Only 24,200 shares changed hands with SG-SSB Limited selling 16,200.

Market capitalisation was better at 11,723.92 GH cedis from 11,715.36 million GH cedis.

There were two price changes, both positive.

SG-SSB Limited gained 0.0600 GH cedis at 1.0000 GH cedis while Guinness Ghana Breweries Ghana Limited again inched up by 0.0001 GH cedis at 0.963 GH cedis.
