Stock index slides as poor run continues

Accra, Nov. 17, GNA - The Accra bourse slid on Wednesday on a 500-cedi loss by Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) in weak trading as the poor run of the bourse continued.

The GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, went down by 6.56 points to 6,886.62 points from 6,893.18 points on Tuesday. Change for the year ended at 93.80 per cent from 93.99 per cent while market capitalization was poorer at 97,218.72 billion cedis from 97,236.03 billion cedis.

Total shares traded rose to 131,000 shares from 35,700. On the broader market, there were four price changes, two either way.

BOPP lost 500 cedis at 8,500 cedis and Fan Milk Limited went down by one cedi at 20,000 cedis. Camelot and Mobil Oil Ghana Limited gained 10 cedis each at 810 cedis and 38,210 cedis, respectively.
