Stocks higher, British Tobacco gains

The Ghana Stock Exchange index ended higher on the week, helped by a rise in British Tobacco .

The all-share index added 4.34 points to close the week at 947.46. The index is trading more than 10 percent higher year to date.

British Tobacco was the most active share of the week. Some 138,300 shares changed hands at 600, up 50 cedis.

Turnover during the week's three sessions improved to 270 million cedis francs ($39,000) compared with 168.3 million cedis last week. In July, the weekly average was nearly 410 million cedis.
