The invasion by the traders poses several threats both to pedestrians and traders as moving vehicles occasionally cause accidents and run over pedestrians.

Previous attempts by City authorities to evacuate the traders have been quite unsuccessful, most of them resulting in serious clashes and political threats from the traders.

Despite efforts by the Regional Coordinating Council to avert the situation by issuing an order, the traders are still operating, many of them begging government to give them till the end of the year to evacuate.

“ We are pleading with the City Authorities to pardon us, at least till the year ends because next month is December and that’s when people patronize my goods, I can’t leave here now, not at this time of the year” one of the traders begged

“ We are pleading with the City Authorities to have mercy on us, where do they want us to go from here especially at this time of the year when Christmas is just at the corner better still they should find us a place” another pleaded.

According to the traders, personnel from the AMA are yet to approach them on the subject.
