Swedru Commercial Bank to install ATM

Agona Swedru, Sept 18, GNA - The Agona Swedru branch of the Ghana Commercial bank (GCB) is to install an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) to offer a 24-hour, seven days a week cash withdrawal service to its customers.

Mr Isaac Kwesi Ocran the Branch Manager, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Agona Swedru said the Bank also intends to increase space in the banking hall for its customers. The Manager speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Agona Swedru said when the banking hall was enlarged, it would offer the customers more space to transact business in comfort and reduce congestion. He explained that the hall got congested at the end of every month when workers trooped in to collect their salaries and at the opening of every school term and university semester when secondary school students and those from the University of Education at Winneba went to the bank to purchase banker's draft to pay their fees.

He stated that the bank wanted to offer 24 hours service because the Bank of Ghana (BOG) was moving its Currency Centre at Agona Nyakrom to the GCB premises at Agona Swedru.

The Manager said that work had also begun to create bigger car park for both the customers and staff of the bank.

According to Mr Ocran GCB wanted to take the advantage of its monopoly as the only commercial bank at Agona Swedru to surpass the small banks in the area.

He stressed the need for the bank to design new products in addition to the "Kudi nkosuo" to cater for the large number of customers in the informal sector operating in the area to expand their businesses.
