Swedru district ECG customers owe 880 million cedis

Agona Swedru, April 12, GNA - Customers of the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Agona Swedru District of the Central region owe the company 880 million cedis.

Mr Bismark Awuku, ECG District Manager, who disclosed this to the their outstanding bills.

He appealed to the customers to pay their electricity bills regularly to enable the company to generate more funds towards the improvement in its services.

Mr Awuku warned unscrupulous people who temper with electricity meters and those who undertake illegal connections to desist from the acts.

He said the company would give 100,000 cedis to any one who would give information the could lead to the arrest of such offenders and assured the public that the identity informants would not be disclosed.

Mr Awuku said the company has installed three computers at its office at Agona Swedru to facilitate issuing of bills and statements.

He said the company would solve the problem of low electricity voltage in parts of the district and extension work would also be carried out in those areas this year.

The areas include Woraba Estate and Pipe-tank suburbs of Agona Swedru, and Agona Kwanyako.

He said Agona Duakwa and Agona Nsaba areas had two phase lines which would be increased to three phase lines to solve the low voltage problem there.

Mr Awuku commended the Agona District Assembly for assisting the company to rehabilitate streets lights in the Agona Swedru township and other towns in the district.
