Takoradi, Dec. 20, GNA - Traders and some shop owners within Takoradi Central Business District have taken over pavements and parking lots to display their wares.
This had led to an increase in human and vehicular traffic making movement difficult.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the Takoradi Market Circle on Tuesday revealed that while many people were busily shopping for the Christmas festivities five days away, others were observing and admiring some of the products on display.
Several shoppers have overwhelmed shop owners while major departmental stores were making brisk business and sales. Madam Grace Fenuku, a trader said business had improved as parents were shopping for their children.
She was optimistic that patronage would continue to improve to enable her sell most of her wares.
Mr. Mensah Bonsu, Managing Director of Mars-Hill said though the market was not brisk, it was expected that business would improve. The Sekondi Market area, however, looked quiet and the festive spirit was not visible.
Though some shop owners had displayed Christmas goods at the entrance of their premises, the hustle at Takoradi was not present at Sekondi.
