TDC can't bank hope on land reserves - MD

The Tema Development Corporation (TDC) cannot bank its hopes on land reserves as it did in the past 50 years of its existence, Mr Joseph A. Abbey, Managing Director has stated.

For this reason, he said, every tom dick and harry of the Corporation must put their shoulders unto the wheel to steer TDC’s direction as it strives to redefine its vision for the next six decades.

Mr Abbey made this remarks at the thanksgiving service and awards ceremony organised to climax activities marking the 50th anniversary celebration of the Corporation on the theme: “Celebrating our Successes, and Redefining the Vision.”

Fourteen (14) employees of TDC including the MD and six retirees were honoured with long service awards for their meritorious and dedicated services to the Corporation.

Mr Abbey reminded the staff that the old way of doing business was no longer attractive and therefore charged them to develop new work ethics; train themselves in order to become more relevant to the operations of the Corporation.

He explained that in redefining TDC’s vision, the Tema Master Plan Review Programme was initiated to review the original Master Plan and some of the older communities starting with the commercial area of Community “2” and Kaiser and Sogeco Falts.

Mr Abbey said the Information Communication Technology (ICT) programme was on course and that the successful implementation called for customizing enterprise resource planning system would enable TDC to achieve the desired business excellence.

The MD expressed the Corporation’s appreciation to the entire staff for their commitment, dedication, selflessness and hard work in 2012 and prayed for God’s guidance and protection for all and sundry in the ensuing year.
