The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has reiterated the need for Government to initiate prudent policies to institute living wages for workers.
The workers said payment of living wages, would help to salvage them from their present economic woes.
Members of the TUC made the call in Bolgatanga, at the weekend, during preparations towards this year’s May Day celebration.
The Regional celebration would be held at Tongo, the Talensi District capital in the Upper East Region.
The workers called on the leadership of the TUC to discharge their duties devoid of partisan politics as the only way to fight the interest of workers.
Mr Augustine Adongo Apambila, Regional Secretary of the TUC, who read the May Day preparation message on behalf of the General Secretary of the TUC, Mr Kofi Asamoah, said the national theme for the celebration is: “Ghana’s Economy–A Concern for All.”
Alhaji Fuseini Ibrahim Sulemana, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Labour Unions entreated the workers to work hard whilst the TUC is negotiating with Government to address their concerns.
