Member of Parliament for Tain constituency, Gabriel Osei, has said the constituency needs cashew processing factories.

To that end, he said it will be suitable for the factory to be established under the One-District-One-Factory programme in the area.

The One-District-One-Factory programme was launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, August 25, in Ekumfi where the first factory under the programme, a pineapple processing factory has been established.

The president expressed optimism that the factory will meet the expectations of the needs of the people.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Saturday, Mr Osei said; “In our constituency we produce cashew on a large scale.

“Cashew growing in this area is gradually overtaking cocoa and so we hope that we will get a factory that processes cashew for the production of several products.

“This will also create jobs for the teeming youth in the area an also empower the farmers.”
