The Commission General of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Emmanuel Kofi Nti has urged all Ghanaians to take advantage of the Authority’s informant awards scheme.

The GRA informant award according to him is an award given to individuals who report tax defaulters to the authority

“I encourage all Ghanaians to take advantage of the informant award, we give a certain percentage of the money retrieved from tax defaulters to informants who give us information” he added

He said the identity of their informants are not revealed so Ghanaians should take advantage of it and liaise with the Authority by giving out information on tax defaulters.

“If you have a neighbor who is living extravagantly and you have a suspicion of him not paying his tax, free feel to walk into our offices and report,” he said

According to him, a lot of businesses and private individuals tend to fail in paying their taxes.

He said, the authority has put in place measures and therefore has the capacity to identify all potential taxpayers adding that the GRA will vigorously pursue all tax defaulters including prosecuting them.

Mr. Nti was speaking at a press briefing in Accra today, March 7th on the GRA’s outlined implementation plan for Tax Amnesty Act 2017.
