Takoradi, Oct. 16, GNA - The Takoradi Value Added Tax (VAT) Service, has stepped up enforcement effort to recover debts owed it by registered traders before the year ends. Miss Emelia Asaam, the Acting Head at the Takoradi office told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday that the exercise was to enable the VAT Service to meet its revenue target for the year. She called on all registered traders owing the Service to settle their indebtedness and added that all assessments of traders made through audit must be paid.
Miss Asaam said the office was monitoring traders, who have never filed returns before as well as those who have failed to do so. She said the exercise was also to monitor compliance of the issuance of VAT invoices.
Miss Asaam urged traders to always report to the VAT Service when they were facing difficulties in filing their returns.
